Online casino gambling has brought poker back to the fore

The last few years have seen an enormous shift in the way we spend  and organise our leisure time. The internet has enabled us to shop online, pay our bills online and communicate with friends and family online, all with just a few clicks of the mouse. It no longer matters where we live or how far we are from a town or city, many of the facilities that were only available in these conurbations are now just a click away. Casino gambling and sports gambling are just two of the leisure activities which are now both freely available in our own homes, and all the evidence suggests that this increased availability is not only gaining increased participation but also changing our gambling habits. A prime example of this effect is the resurgence of poker gambling at the online casinos, and in particular gambling on Texas Hold’em poker. Many would argue that the popularity of gambling on Texas Hold’em poker stems back to the start of televised poker tournaments, and there is of course some truth in that, but the opportunity for more actual participation in Texas Hold’em gambling at our online casinos must be a major factor. Online gambling on poker is available in many forms, and which format you choose to play is purely a matter of personal preference, but Texas Hold’em has definitely become the most popular format of poker gambling online. If you’ve not yet had a go at Texas Hold’em poker, you can check out the full rules on our casino games pages, but briefly each player is dealt two cards face down and then five more cards are dealt into the middle of the table face up. These are called community cards, and they can be used by all the players at the table to make their best poker hand from their two face down cards and the community cards. The excitement of this particular form of poker stems from the fact that a full betting round takes place firstly after the two player cards have been dealt and then again after each community card has been dealt. Clearly these multiple betting rounds lead to bigger pots, but be careful that inexperience does not cost you dear. Start with low stakes or free play.
